When I first got my Canon EOS 5D Mark III, I stayed up all night to capture a sunrise from Virginias second highest peak, Whitetop! I drove up the winding mountain road armed with my new camera and my newest tripod from my girlfriend(now my wife) excited to capture something beautiful. As I reached the four mile road to the summit, I started to worry as I could see the morning light starting to brighten up the darkness that had consumed the sky and land. When I entered the the clear mountain side, I was focused on the way to the top, looking for a good place to pull over and wait for the sun to break the horizon. On one of the last curves pointing East, I pulled as far over as I could, equipped my tripod and camera, sitting up right on the edge of the gravel and waited. The sun slowly appeared from behind the clouds, bright glowing orange thru the sky while the fog rested between mountain tops below.
